LCG Associates Raises $10 Million for Open-ended Hedge Fund - cbl

ATLANTA -- LCG Associates Inc. has raised $10 million from a single investor for its open-ended LCG Hedged Equity Fund Ltd., according to an SEC filing. The fund accepts a minimum $5 million from investors.
Principals named in the filing by the Atlanta-based hedge fund sponsor, with offices in Dallas, are the following directors:
· President and CEO Edward Johnson;
· CFO John Burgin;
· Anthony Daniel;
· David Emerson;
· Brian Falco, who is based in Dallas;
· Scott Freeman, who is based in Dallas;
· Michael Lubin; and
· David Ritter.
The last named six are all senior vice presidents and principals.
Founded in 1973, LCG Associates is a full-service employee-owned investment consulting firm.

Edward F. Johnson
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Johnson joined LCG in 1989 and is President and Chief Executive Officer. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and leads the Investment as well as Marketing Committees. In addition to his responsibilities of overseeing the Firm, Ed works with several of LCG's clients and has spearheaded the Company's expansion into non-profits. He is heavily involved in manager due diligence and alternative asset class research.
Ed has been Chief Executive Officer since 2004 when the Board of Directors elected to expand his responsibilities. In 2001, the Board appointed him as President of the Firm. Ed moved to Georgia to become LCG's Atlanta Practice Leader in 1993.
Prior to joining LCG, Ed was President of a Dallas-based commercial real estate investment firm.
Ed earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and studied international economics at the University of Notre Dame in London, England. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Cathy, and their four children.
John W. Burgin, CPA
CFO and CCO / Principal
Mr. Burgin joined LCG in 1982 and is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. He also is on the Board of Directors and serves as the Secretary/Treasurer. His responsibilities include directing the Firm's financial and compliance functions. Previously, John worked as an Audit Senior for Fox & Company (now Grant Thornton), a national public accounting firm. Later, he was employed by ENSERCH Corporation (now TXU) as a Senior Auditor in the Internal Audit Department and promoted to Manager of Corporate Accounting.
John graduated with honors from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 1976 with a B.B.A degree. He received his Certified Public Accountant ("CPA") designation in 1978 and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
David R. Emerson, CFA, CAIA
Senior Vice President / Principal
Mr. Emerson joined LCG Associates in 2003. His responsibilities include lead client relationships with utilities, healthcare organizations, endowments and foundations. David also conducts capital market and asset class research as well as investment manager due-diligence.
David also serves on LCG's team focused on Nuclear Decommissioning Trusts (NDTs), which has developed proprietary modeling software that demonstrates the effects of different capital market, tax rate, and spending assumptions. David actively participates in NDT conferences and industry groups and has helped refine LCG's modeling capabilities in the ever-changing world of NDTs. Currently, he works with several utilities.
Prior to joining LCG, David worked for seven years in the investment consulting industry in a variety of roles from manager research to Consultant. David is a CFA charterholder. He is an active member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Atlanta. He is also a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charterholder. David holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He graduated from the University of Michigan with an A.B. in Political Science. In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and golf.
Anthony M. Daniel, Jr., CFA
Senior Vice President/Principal
Mr. Daniel joined LCG Associates in 1998. At LCG, Tony is a member of the Board of Directors. He serves as a team leader consulting to a number of corporate, non-profit and healthcare client relationships.
Previously, he was a Consultant within the Asset Consulting Group at Towers Perrin in Atlanta. There, he was responsible for investment management research, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment management organizations and investment related issues. Prior to that, Tony was a Consultant with Highland Associates in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Daniel began his career with Smith Barney as an Analyst.
Tony received a B.S. degree in Finance from Birmingham Southern College. He is a CFA charterholder. Additionally, Tony is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta
David D. Ritter, CFA
Senior Vice President/Principal
Mr. Ritter joined LCG Associates in 1997 and is a member of the Board of Directors. In addition to lead consulting responsibilities, David conducts capital market and asset class research, investment manager due-diligence and special topical studies.
Previously, David was Assistant Vice President within the Investment Management Group of Chase Bank in Dallas. There, he was responsible for consulting with institutional clients on investment policy, asset allocation, manager selection and due-diligence, performance attribution and evaluation, and other investment related issues. Prior to that, David was a Consultant with William M. Mercer Investment Consulting, Inc. in Dallas. Mr. Ritter began his investment career with Fidelity Investments as a Retirement Representative.
David earned a BBA in Finance, with a concentration in investments, from Texas A&M University. He is a CFA charterholder and an active member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Atlanta.
Michael T. Lubin, CFA
Senior Vice President / Principal
Mr. Lubin joined LCG in 1996 and is a member of the Board of Directors. At LCG, Michael is responsible for multiple client relationships and is a leader in LCGs manager research and analytical software development. In 2002, Michael began work as a portfolio specialist at Barrow, Hanley, Mewhinney & Strauss, Inc. In 2004, Michael re-joined LCG. Michael was previously a consultant and investment analyst with Mercer Investment Consulting, Inc., where he specialized in asset allocation and asset/liability studies, investment manager research and selection, and performance evaluation.
He studied at Kansai Gakuin University in Japan and earned a B.B.A. in Finance (magna cum laude) from Southern Methodist University and an M.B.A. from Emory University. Michael is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Atlanta.
Scott M. Freeman
Senior Vice President/Principal (Dallas)
Mr. Freeman is a Senior Vice President and Principal with LCG Associates, Inc. in its Dallas, Texas office. At LCG, Mr. Freeman is the Dallas Practice Leader, a member of the firm's Board of Directors since 1992, and a member of the senior-level Investment Committee that conducts capital market research and reviews strategy for all clients. He also consults to several of the firm's largest clients including healthcare organizations, foundations, university endowments, and corporations. Scott has over twenty-five years of finance and investment experience, the past twenty with LCG. Before joining LCG, Mr. Freeman held other positions in the investment industry.
Mr. Freeman earned his Business degree from the University of Notre Dame. Scott and his wife, Cindy, have seven children.
Brian J. Falco
Senior Vice President/Principal (Dallas)
Mr. Falco joined LCG Associates in 1996. He is a member of the Board of Directors and serves on both the Marketing and Benefits Committees. His responsibilities include lead client relationships with foundations, endowments, family offices and corporations with both domestic and international representation.
Brian began his career with Harris Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago and then entered the investment consulting industry with SEI Capital Resources, also in Chicago. Before joining LCG, Brian spent five years as a Consultant with Mercer Investment Consulting, Inc. in Dallas where his clients included public funds, foundations, endowments and corporations.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Management from Clemson University and is an active member of the Clemson Alumni Association. He also pursued graduate studies at Loyola University in Chicago.
Brian currently resides in Plano, TX with his wife, Fran, and their three sons. He enjoys running and competes in long-distance races.
