Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s ‘Golf Tournament for Play’ Drives Outreach Throughout the State

120 golfers teed up for charity at the prestigious Peachtree Golf Club for the Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s third annual golf outing Tournament for Play, held on Monday, August 31, 2015. The fundraiser, presented by PNC, raised over $150,000 to support The Museum’s early childhood educational programming and community outreach through generous donations as well as golfer registration.

“We could not be more thrilled about the success of this year’s Tournament for Play!” said Jane Turner, executive director of The Children’s Museum of Atlanta. “We are so grateful for the ongoing support from our committed partners and patrons. Their continued commitment helped the Children’s Museum exceed our fundraising goals for the event and allows us to provide more dynamic exhibits and educational programming for children, families and schools throughout the state.”

All proceeds from the tournament support the Museum’s early childhood educational programming and community outreach that touches the lives of more than 200,000 children and families annually. Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s mission is to spark imagination and inspire discovery and learning for all children through the power of play. Serving the children, families and schools in Atlanta and throughout Georgia, the Museum has welcomed over 2 million visitors since opening in 2003. The Museum is also currently undergoing a massive renovation project to further its commitment to the community as a world-class children’s museum and continue to help ignite curiosity, imagination, problem-solving skills and a love of learning in the next generation of Atlantans.

Due to increased support for this year’s Tournament for Play, Children’s Museum was able to enhance the fundraiser experience by adding a special player breakfast, presented by LexisNexis.

Children’s Museum of Atlanta is building a new world!

Atlanta’s only Children’s Museum has begun construction on their massive renovation. The project, set to be completed in late 2015, will add two new permanent exhibits and a new 3,000 square foot mezzanine level. Project highlights also include the reinvigoration of the four existing galleries of the Museum, the addition of a new permanent performance space for the Imaginators, the Museum’s troupe of professional actors and educators, and many other upgrades to existing spaces that will completely transform the experience for Museum visitors.
