TAG-Ed Announces the First Annual The Horizon Awards

6/21/16

TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed), the charitable affiliate of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), is proud to announce the first annual The Horizon Awards. The Horizon Awards is a celebration of the interns, mentors and host companies that have broadened Georgia's future horizons through the TAG-Ed Summer Internship Program. The Horizon Awards will take place on Wednesday, August 3 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the King Plow Arts Center.

Through TAG-Ed’s Summer Internship Program, over 700 high school students have been placed in rewarding five-week internships at local companies, non-profits and start-ups, including AT&T, Turner Broadcasting Services, Novelis and Verizon. The TAG-Ed Summer Internship Program provides students with the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the STEM pipeline through real-world work experiences. The success of this program, which has consistently grown each year since its inception in 2009, is attributed to the talented Georgia STEM students and their dedicated company mentors.

In recognition of their work and dedication in building Georgia’s future workforce, TAG-Ed summer interns, mentors and host companies are invited to attend and nominate one another for The Horizon Awards. Sample honors include the Industry Impact Award, the Revolutionary Intern Award and the Youth Advocate Award. Full descriptions and nomination forms are available at http://www.tagedonline.org/events/the-horizon-awards/.

Event sponsorship is now available for companies seeking to show support of the summer internship program while promoting their brand. Please contact Mary Kay Boler at mkboler@tagonline.org for more information.
