Comcast Marks ‘Topping Off’ of New Central Division Headquarters Building

8/22/16

Comcast last week marked a milestone as the company held a topping off ceremony for its new divisional headquarters, a nine-story office tower that will be part of the Atlanta Braves stadium and mixed use complex under construction in Cobb County.

The new office tower opens in 2017 and overlooks the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park, which opens in April. The building is a part of The Battery — a live, work and play development the Braves are building along with SunTrust Park.

The space will house more than 1,000 Comcast employees and will include a dedicated home for the company’s growing workforce of technologists, engineers and software architects. It will serve as a primary technology development hub for Comcast, connecting directly via high-speed fiber to the company’s other major R&D centers in Silicon Valley, Philadelphia and Denver.

“The topping off ceremony is a significant milestone for Comcast, and is another important moment in our long standing partnership with the Braves, the state of Georgia and the local communities where we work and live,” Comcast Cable Central Division President Bill Connors said. “This building will be a place where the best minds can come together, in a modern setting that’s designed to accommodate today’s and tomorrow’s workforce, and bring new levels of innovation and service excellence to our customers.”

The topping off ceremony is the latest in a string of events related to SunTrust Park and The Battery.

Earlier this month, Comcast Business announced it is building a new multi-site enterprise network for the Braves that will connect the team’s front offices at SunTrust Park with minor league team operations in Georgia and Virginia. As a part of the agreement, Comcast Business will provide two 100 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) Ethernet lines into the new park.

Comcast Cable’s Central Division leads all residential and business services operations including marketing, finance, engineering, human relations, customer service, fulfillment, public relations and government affairs for over 20 million combined video, high-speed Internet and voice customers throughout 17 states stretching from Michigan to Florida.
