Winners Released for Techie 5/10 K Walk & Run

Annual Event supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education in Georgia attracted over 500 participants.

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), and the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG Ed) today announced the winners of its 9th Annual Techie 5|10K Walk and Run from Saturday, October 1st.

  • Corporate Cup 5K: Rainmaker Group
  • Corporate Cup 10K: North Highland
  • Fastest Male 5K: Patrick Kavanagh
  • Fastest Female 5K: Amy Maloney
  • Fastest Male 10K: Nathan Briggs
  • Fastest Female 10K: Amy Wolkin


500 racers registered to compete in The Techie 5|10K Walk and Run which is presented by TAG and race sponsors, Pega and SPI. This year had a special significance for Tino Mantella, as it would be the last year he competes as President/CEO of TAG.

“I was really happy with the turnout this year. The event is always a great way to strengthen the camaraderie within our own businesses as well as within Georgia’s technology sector,” said Tino Mantella, President and CEO of TAG.

The event benefits the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed), a non-profit which promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education in Georgia through web challenges, student internships, scholarships and more. It is predicted that some211,000 STEM-related jobs will need to be filled in Georgia by 2018 and TAG-Ed is dedicated to helping the state prepare for these jobs. The Annual Techie 5|10K Walk and Run are just two of the many events that help support these efforts.
