Mischievous Leprechaun causes Trouble in Midtown Atlanta

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and a leprechaun is on the loose and has been spotted at different areas around Colony Square. Students of Primrose School of Midtown at Colony Square and residents at Colony House Condominiums have seen flashes of green and specks of gold – sure signs of a leprechaun.

Witnesses say when you see bright, shiny and colorful objects, you’ll likely spot him. While some think it’s completely bogus, others have been scouring Colony Square as if they were stalking the rarest of Pokémon in hopes of catching a glimpse of our mystical leprechaun, officially known as “Colin."

Students of Primrose School of Midtown at Colony Square have provided three amateur sketches to the Atlanta Police Department in hopes of finding Colin the Leprechaun before the 135th annual Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 11 (see photos attached).

The students report that Colin is about 6 inches tall with red hair, a sly smile and green clothing. The Colony Square management team is documenting his mischief around the Square on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @ColonySquareATL and guests are encouraged to share their leprechaun encounters with the hashtag #LuckoftheSquare. Colony Square and the Atlanta Police Department will host a press conference on March 10 at 11 a.m. to update the community on Colin’s whereabouts before the annual parade.

Colin’s signature is to leave clues behind, hinting at his next place of mayhem and antics. For example, his latest clue is: “Chickens and cows rejoice and rise, this is the place he might mistake a pot o’ gold for a bag of waffle fries…”

Colony Square spokeswoman Liz Gillespie said, “He has been causing all kinds of trouble and leaving trails of green glitter in his path. We hope to find Colin the Leprechaun before our big Luck of the Square event on Saturday!”

At the top of the morning (10 a.m.) on March 11, the St. Patrick’s Day 5k will start and finish Colony Square. At noon, the 135th annual Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off, and the public is welcome to watch from Colony Square’s premium parade viewing area on Peachtree Street. Colony Square will also host the parade’s judging tables.

The public is encouraged to stick around after the parade to continue celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with Luck of the Square. The free event will offer live musical performances featuring Party Nation, food and drinks, dancing and more shenanigans.
