Jeremy M. Stipkala Honored as Finalist for G. Dewey Oxner, Jr. Mentor of the Year Award

Jeremy Stipkala, Ph.D., J.D., Patent Attorney with Thrive IP®, North Charleston, SC, was honored as a top-ten finalist for the G. Dewey Oxner, Jr., Mentor of the Year Award from the Supreme Court of South Carolina Chief Justice's Commission on the Profession.

The annual award recognizes and commends those who have surpassed expectations as a mentor in the Supreme Court's Lawyer Mentoring Program. At the award luncheon on April 10, 2017, South Carolina Supreme Court Justice John W. Kittredge gave a brief history of G. Dewey Oxner, Jr.'s dedication to mentorship and the law, and presented this year's award to Kirby D. Shealy, III of Adams and Reese, LLP. South Carolina Supreme Court Justice George C. James, Jr. and Chief Judge James E. Lockemy, of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, also attended.

Dr. Stipkala was nominated by Sabrina C. Call, Esq., of The Law Firm of Cynthia Ann O'Dell, P.C. Ms. Call earned a J.D. from Charleston School of Law in 2014. Following graduation from CSL, Ms. Call was mentored by Dr. Stipkala through the Supreme Court's Lawyer Mentoring Program.

Of his mentoring experience, Dr. Stipkala said, "We mentors have the greatest job in the world. We get to unlock the vast potential of our mentees. And it so often takes only the slightest turning of a key for that potential to spring forth."

Dr. Stipkala is a Registered United States Patent Attorney and is admitted to practice law in South Carolina, D.C., and Maryland. He is a member in good standing of numerous state and federal bar associations. Dr. Stipkala assists clients in protecting and enforcing all forms of intellectual property.

He obtained his B.S. cum Laude in Chemistry from Juniata College and Leeds University, England, and earned his M.A. and Ph.D., both in Chemistry, from The Johns Hopkins University. He acquired his J.D. with High Honors from The George Washington University Law School in 2002.
