Ga. Apartment Industry Foundation Briefs Educators on Multi-Family Housing Careers

7/24/17

The Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation (GAIEF) recently welcomed educators from across the country, as well as industry colleagues from Great Britain, to spotlight careers in the multi-family housing industry.

During the National Apartment Association (NAA) conference held at the World Congress Center in late June, leaders from GAIEF hosted a tour of Atlanta apartment communities for those educators and industry professionals.

Among those visiting the AMLI on Ponce, Post Alexander and The Exchange properties were officials from the Georgia Department of Education, multi-family owners and operators from Great Britain, as well as university instructors in hospitality, business and other disciplines from around the country.

“The goal of the tour was to introduce these educators and practitioners to our industry and demonstrate that the multi-family industry offers a dynamic career path for people in diverse academic and technical disciplines,” said Dr. Debbie Phillips, President of GAIEF. “The best practices and key take-aways can now be shared with their students across the country.”

Dr. Barbara Wall, Director of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education for the Georgia Department of Education and other members from her senior leadership team were impressed with how career pathways related to the multifamily housing industry.

“Each person looked at the apartment industry from their own vantage point, but the comments made by my staff quickly revealed that every career pathway that we offer in Georgia is represented by the apartment industry. We appreciate the strong support given to CTAE by GAIEF,” Wall said.
