Firm Also Added Senior Financial Planner, Research Analyst in Recent Months

BT Wealth Management, whose rapid growth has landed it on the lists of several prominent national publications ranking the nation’s largest and fastest-growing registered investment advisers, is pleased to announce the hire of Patti Fries, IACCP, as the firm’s new chief compliance officer. Fries previously served as chief compliance officer since 2006 for Cornerstone Management Inc. She will assist in BT Wealth’s software installation of Schwab Compliance Technologies (formerly known as Compliance 11), a top tool in the marketplace for firms to meet increasingly complex employee compliance and regulatory requirements. Fries represents the firm’s third hire since April, bringing its total number of employees to 13.

“We wanted to continue to expand our compliance programs and, for our clients’ benefit, having someone of Patti’s experience and stature is something that we are very excited about,” BT Wealth President and Chief Investment Officer Scott Craig said. “She is a leader, knows the industry inside and out and will prove an invaluable asset to us as we continue to grow.”

As chief compliance officer, Fries will be responsible for BT Wealth’s entire compliance program and policies. Fries has completed the rigorous Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional program (IACCP), which is co-sponsored by the Investment Adviser Association and National Regulatory Services. Fries also possesses an extensive knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and brings the experience of having gone through an audit by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Fries is a facilitator of the Atlanta Compliance Roundtable Group and a co-founder of an online national compliance group.

“I’m very excited to join BT Wealth and to work with a firm whose business model is based on values that align with my own – those of integrity, family and putting clients’ interests first,” said Fries.

Since April, BT Wealth has added two other employees. Abigail Soren joined the firm as a senior financial planner from Redwood Wealth Management. Soren is a certified financial planner (CFP) and brings experience managing client relationships and providing holistic planning, including specialized retirement, tax and cash flow planning. Soren comes to BT Wealth Management with seven years of experience in the industry. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. In her spare time, she volunteers with the Atlanta Humane Society.

In June, Owen Cooper joined the firm as a research analyst. Cooper, who previously worked as an analyst with a family office in Atlanta, works closely with BT Wealth’s director of research on asset allocation and portfolio construction. Cooper, who holds dual citizenship in both the United States and France and is fluent in French, is a candidate for the CFA Level III examination. He earned his undergraduate degree from Sewanee – The University of the South in history and is an alumnus of the summer Bridge Program at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. He also studied law and economics for one year at the Universite de Nanterre in Paris.
