North American Properties Breaks Ground on the Reimagined Colony Square on Oct. 10

Community invited to celebrate the start of construction at Colony Square in the heart of Midtown

WHAT: In less than a week,North American Properties and the community will come together to celebrate an iconic moment in Atlanta history: the official groundbreaking of the reimagined Colony Square. On Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m., Colony Square’s Plaza will be activated with live music, chef-curated food and craft beverages, a wrecking ball demolition and more.

The ceremony will include speeches beginning around 4 p.m. from Mayor Kasim Reed, president and CEO of Midtown Alliance Kevin Green, managing partner at North American Properties Mark Toro, and partner and vice president of development at North American Properties John Kelley.

The community is invited to enjoy food inspired by local chefs, including fare from 5Church and Wildleaf, along with Sukoshi and Donetto by Steve Palmer, restaurateur and chef-curator of Colony Square’s food hall Main & Main; cocktails by Sunshine Alchemy and mixologists from Establishment; and live entertainment from the Mia Green Band.

The groundbreaking event will also include a live demolition of building 500 with a wrecking ball that guests are invited to sign before the big swing. Additionally, virtual reality will be available for guests to walk through and experience the reimagined Colony Square. Guests can also expect more exciting news to be unveiled during the celebration.
