October is National Cybersecurity Month. TAG Mobility, the mobile tech focused group of Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), invites you to join their event in honor of this special tech focus, Cybersecurity in an Interconnected World, on Monday, October 23. Hosted by Womble Carlyle, this session will feature FinTech, HealthTech, and legal subject matter experts discussing the uses and risks of advanced technologies in combating the ever-growing threat of Cyber Crime.
Cyber-crime is always looking for a path of least resistance, away from secure hubs, and in today’s 24×7 high-tech, high-touch world there are an ever-increasing number of endpoints for hackers to exploit. As we explore the attack vectors, those that are well known and those that are not so obvious, it can be both scary and intimidating. So, what should we do?

Glenn Pearson, Principal, Pearson Health Tech Insights, LLC., has worked in the hospital industry for more than 30 years. As Principal of Pearson Health Tech Insights, LLC (PHTI), he applies his vast experience to help the healthcare industry fully embrace technology’s role in transforming healthcare. PHTI targets developers/entrepreneurs/vendors, hospitals and other provider groups, and investors.
Before founding PHTI, Glenn was Executive Vice President at Georgia Hospital Association for 19+ years where he led finance, data, IT, mHealth, public relations & communications, entrepreneurial ventures and vendor endorsements.
Glenn is a recognized national healthcare leader, having served on six committees for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and as elected ACHE Regent for Georgia.
Ted Claypoole leads Womble Carlyle’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Group and the firm’s IP Transactions Team. His practice centers on business process outsourcing, distribution, branding, software development, hosted application and electronic commerce agreements for a wide variety of companies across many different industry sectors. Ted also leads data breach incident response teams in the public and private sectors. He addresses information security risk management and cross-border data transfer issues, including those involving the European Union and the Data Protection Safe Harbor.
Ted is the immediate past-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Cyberspace Committee in the Business Law Section. He has recently co-authored the books Privacy in the Age of Big Data: Recognizing Threats, Defending Your Rights and Protecting Your Family and Protecting Your Internet Identity: Are You Naked Online?, both with Theresa Payton.
Steve Middlebrook, Counsel, Womble-Carlyle, advises start-up and established companies on a wide array of legal and business issues arising from the intersection of technological innovation and financial services. He has over 20 years’ experience helping clients navigate complex regulatory and compliance matters, including licensing, consumer protection, anti-money laundering, data privacy and security. He has helped clients interact with regulators and respond to inquiries at the state and federal level.
