Clarkston Community Center’s New Website Awarded First Place Following the Annual Digital Marketing Pro-Bono Program, “48in48”


Thanks to an innovative program that matches top marketing and technology professionals with worthy non-profit organizations, the Clarkston Community Center in suburban Atlanta now has a fresh, interactive website that outlines its many services and encourages involvement.  The Center participated in an innovative program called “48in48”, presented by Delta Air Lines.  The initiative brings together some of the metro area’s most creative digital marketing professionals to devote 48 hours to help 48 non-profits free of charge.  At the end of the extensive two-day session, the results were judged and the Clarkston Community Center’s new website was awarded First Place.  The judges’ panel included Tad Hutcheson, vice president of community affairs at Delta Air Lines; Ann Cramer, senior consultant at Coxe Curry & Associates; Alicia Philipp, president of Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta; and Moira Vetter, founder and CEO of Modo Modo Agency.  www.48in48org,

“We are thrilled with our new website, which tells the Center’s story through video, graphics, photos and compelling copy,” said Cindy Bowden, executive director of the Clarkston Community Center.  “We were paired with a team from Atlanta’s BKV Agency who really dug deep to understand and then communicate via the new website how the Center serves our unique and diverse community.  The Center’s Board of Directors and staff are delighted with the results and gratified that our new website was awarded first place in this year’s 48in48 event.”

“It was very rewarding for our agency to have the opportunity to more effectively convey the mission and work of the Clarkston Community Center through the creation of an elevated website,” said Patrick Miller-Navarre, account director for BKV. “48in48 gives agencies like ours the opportunity to help deserving non-profits better connect with volunteers and donors, in order to drive participation, support, awareness and fundraising. After a marathon 48 hours, we were thankful and honored that our efforts on the Center’s behalf received first place recognition.

Atlanta’s 48in48 program was founded in 2015 by Jeff Hilimire of DragonArmy and Adam Walker of Sideways8.  The inaugural event brought together over 150 digital marketing professionals including developers, designers, content writers and other digital professionals who formed teams to create 48 new, customized websites for 48 non-profits in just 48 hours.  Per event, 48in48 estimates that more than $1.5 million in services - including websites, logos and marketing support - are provided for non-profits in Atlanta, New York, Boston and Minneapolis.

About the Clarkston Community Center

Established in 1994, the Clarkston Community Center offers programs for children, teens, adults and seniors, centered around education, wellness, art, recreation and community building.  The Center serves over 56,000 individuals annually, primarily from Clarkston and greater DeKalb County, Ga., many of whom have immigrated to the United States or are newly-arrived refugees.  In addition to classrooms and meeting space, the Clarkston Community Center includes an activity field for sports and recreation, a community garden, private event space, a bicycle shop and a kitchen.  Angora Hall, the Center’s renovated auditorium and stage, is available for public rental for parties, weddings and other special events.  The Center relies on private donations, corporate support and financial grants to provide its numerous services and programs to the community.
