Led by Anne Cox Chambers, eight billionaires from Georgia made it to the 2013 Forbes list. The Cox Media matriarch had a net worth of $12 billion and was ranked 80th overall.

Others on the list of global billionaires are: Jim Kennedy, Truett Cathy, Bernard Marcus, Ted Turner, Arthur Blank, Jeffrey Lorberbaum and Sara Blakely.

Mexican Carlos Slim Helú topped the list for the fourth consecutive year with a net worth of $73 billion. Microsoft’s Bill Gates retained the number two spot with $67 billion.

The 27th Forbes Billionaires list has 1,426 names, with an aggregate net worth of $5.4 trillion, up from $4.6 trillion. The U.S. led the list with 442 billionaires, followed by Asia-Pacific (386), Europe (366), The Americas (129) and the Middle East & Africa (103).   

A total 138 women made the list this year, an increase of 34. With a net worth of $30 billion, France’s Liliane Bettencourt, the L’Oreal heiress, was the richest woman in the world. She ranked ninth overall.
