Atlanta Among Worst Cities for Commuters
Washington, D.C., is the nation’s worst for commuters, who spend an average of 67 hours a year on the roads of the national capital, according to a report by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.
New York was fourth, followed by Boston, Houston and Atlanta. Seattle and Philadelphia were tied for the ninth place.
The report was compiled using 2011 statistics. Despite the growing number of automobiles every year, the average delay has remained the same for the past of couple of years.
Here are the rankings along with average annaul commuting times:
1. Washington, D.C. - 67 hours.
4. New York-Newark - 59 hours.
5. Boston - 53 hours.
6. Houston - 52 hours.
7. Atlanta - 51 hours.
9. Philadelphia - 48 hours.
