Coca-Cola, UPS, Home Depot on Fortune’s List of 50 Most Admired Companies

Coca-Cola, UPS and Home Depot are among the world’s 50 most admired companies, according to a listing by Fortune magazine.

Apple, Google and Amazon.com were ranked first, second and third on the list, followed by Coca-Cola at fourth place. The list has a concentration of tech firms at the top.

Why it's admired: Coca-Cola’s beverage business is growing and the company is popular overseas. Coke posted double-digit sales growth in countries, such as India and Thailand in 2012 (overall sales were up 4% worldwide.) Coke and Diet Coke are the leading soft drinks in the U.S. and the company has billion dollar brands like vitaminwater and Minute Maid. The company entered the dairy business this year, with the acquisition of an equity stake in Fair Oaks Farms Brands, the health-conscious company behind Core Power, a protein shake product.
