SunTrust Among 15 Best-paying Big Banks

New York’s Goldman Sachs, American Express, MetLife, Morgan Stanley, HSBC, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of New York Mellon are among the top-paying big banks in the U.S., Forbes reported citing data from the online jobs and career community Glassdoor.com.

Also on the list are Cahrlotte, N.C.-headquartered Bank of America, Boston-based State Street, Atlanta’s SunTrust, Philadelphia’s PNC Financial Services Group and Virginia’s Capital One.

Goldman Sachs pays its vice presidents more than any other bank – $169,896 – followed by Capital One, which pays $165,514, according to the report. The banks that pay their financial analysts the highest are Capital One, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, in that order, with a top salary of  $73,462.

The job titles of vice president and financial analyst are accompanied by brutal hours, stress and an aggressive company culture, Forbes said. Financial analysts have an average base salary of $72,636 a year, while VPs in the financial services or banking industry earn $127,617 annually. Many of these employees also earn bonuses on top of their base pay, which can more than double their net incomes.

Glassdoor compiled the data based on salary reports received within the past two years for each company, examining more than 740 salary reports for each position.
