Julian Nealy of Morris Manning Joins Powell Goldstein Two Other Morris Manning Attorneys Also Join

Law - GA.

Description:
Julian Nealy of Morris Manning Joins Powell Goldstein Two Other Morris Manning Attorneys Also Join Law Firm's Real Estate Practice

ATLANTA, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Powell Goldstein LLP announced today that Julian D. Nealy has joined the Firm as a Partner in the Financial Products and Real Estate Services Department of the Firm. Nealy was a partner at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP and is a former managing partner of the Atlanta office and Vice Chairman of the Real Estate Department of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP.

Nealy represents lenders, developers and investors in connection with construction project lending, credit lending and corporate borrowing, and office, housing, retail and multi-use developments.

Prior to Paul Hastings, Nealy was a partner and chairman of the Real Estate & Banking Department of Hansell & Post, the predecessor to the Atlanta office of Jones Day.

"We are excited to have Julian Nealy join our firm as a partner," said Powell Goldstein Chairman James J. McAlpin, Jr. In addition to being an excellent lawyer, Julian has very strong ties to the real estate development and lending industry and is viewed by his clients as both a counselor and a lawyer. This year our lateral hiring initiatives have resulted in several additions to our Firm in key practice areas. In Julian's case, he is joining the Real Estate Finance & Development Practice Group expanding what we believe to be one of the largest and strongest real estate finance and development practices in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions."

Nealy has been recognized for 10 years as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" and has been named one of the "Ten Most Influential Lawyers in Atlanta" by the Atlanta Business Chronicle (1995). He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Emory University and his Juris Doctor degree from Emory University School of Law.

"The thing I am most excited about," said Nealy, "is the great platform that PoGo's Real Estate Finance and Development Practice Group affords our team and our clients; there are more than 55 excellent lawyers and other professionals, all with very sophisticated expertise, providing more depth than I have enjoyed since I was at Hansell & Post some 17 years ago." He went on, "I am equally impressed with the quality of the leadership being provided at PoGo by Jim McAlpin and his executive leadership team. Their progressive approach, which is tailored to the realities of big firm law practice in the 21st century, capitalizes on opportunities to the mutual benefit of the entire PoGo family and, even more importantly, the firm's clients."

Two Attorneys Follow Nealy to Powell Goldstein

In addition to Nealy, two other attorneys from Morris, Manning & Martin joined Powell Goldstein's Real Estate Finance and Development Practice Group as Of Counsel: Gretchen E. von Dwingelo and Teresa Brazzel Pernini.

Von Dwingelo focused on commercial and banking transactions, as well as debt restructuring and workouts, while at Morris, Manning & Martin, and before that, at Paul Hastings. Particular areas of her expertise include asset-based financing, cash flow lending, communications industry lending practice, franchise lending, revised Article 9 of the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) and related issues, and structured finance.

Von Dwingelo graduated from Florida International University and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law. She served as Executive Editor of the University of Miami Entertainment and Sports Law Review. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia.

Pernini specialized in real estate finance at both Paul Hastings and Morris Manning, particularly in representing agent lenders in secured loan syndications and participations. In addition, her practice includes representing various financial institutions and life insurance companies in negotiating and drafting loan documents, as well as coordinating and handling closings for acquisitions and construction and permanent loans secured primarily by commercial real estate. She has administered loans of various credit facilities ranging from $55 million to $450 million.

Pernini graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana Tech University and received a Juris Doctor degree from the College of William and Mary School of Law. She is a member of the American Bar Association and of the State Bars of Georgia and South Carolina, and was named by Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine as a 2005 "Rising Star".

"The additions of Julian, Gretchen and Teresa enhance, as a whole, our real estate services and financial products department," said McAlpin. "We are excited to have them join our dynamic and growing team."

Powell Goldstein LLP was established in 1909 and has more than 300 attorneys who provide legal counsel to clients in a wide variety of practices from offices in Atlanta and Washington. For more information, visit www.pogolaw.com or call 202.347.0066.
