Leo Wells Elected to NAREIT Board
Leo Wells, president and founder of Wells Real Estate Funds, has been elected to the Board of Governors of NAREIT, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.
Mr. Wells' election was announced at NAREIT's annual convention, in Phoenix.
"Our company has been a member and supporter of NAREIT for years, and I'm honored and excited to join the Board of Governors," Mr. Wells said. "I hope to help the organization continue to provide leadership for our industry."
Mr. Wells is one of only a few board members who manage nontraded REITs - real estate companies whose shares do not trade on the major exchanges.
"The REIT industry has grown tremendously in just a generation, both in publicly traded companies and in nontraded REITs," he said. "I'm looking forward to working with NAREIT members across the industry, as we look to the next era in commercial real estate investing."
NAREIT is the worldwide representative voice for REITs and publicly traded real estate companies with an interest in U.S. real estate and capital markets. NAREIT's members are REITs and other businesses throughout the world that own, operate and finance income-producing real estate, as well as those firms and individuals who advise, study and service those businesses.
Wells Real Estate Funds is a national real estate investment firm founded 25 years ago by Leo Wells in suburban Atlanta.
