Law Firm Baron & Budd Wins Ruling in Graphic Packaging Hearing Loss Cases - CBL
By Citybizlist Staff
MARIETTA -- A Louisiana judge has ruled that claims by a group of workers suffering from noise-induced hearing loss were filed on time. The group worked for Marietta, Ga.-based Graphic Packaging International Inc. (NYSE: GPK) or Clayton, Mo.-based Olin Corp., which both operated the same paper and box plant at different times.
Because the hearing loss occurred slowly, it was hard for workers to recognize the symptoms until they were advanced, according to Dallas-based law firm Baron & Budd PC. The two companies' poor hearing conservation program contributed to the time it took workers to recognize their hearing loss, the firm also argued.
Based on Judge James H. Boddie Jr.'s ruling, the lawsuits will move forward.
Graphic Packaging provides paperboard packaging solutions for a variety of products to food, beverage and other consumer products companies.
