Swift Currie Continues Growth in Atlanta with Addition of Nine New Attorneys

Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP welcomes the addition of nine attorneys to its Atlanta office: Sara Alexandre, Rebecca M. Beane, Tara P. Schlairet, Ivy R. White and Robert K. Young are newcomers to the firm, while Avery G. Carter, Clay L. Clifton, Nichole C. Novosel and Kristen M. Vigilant join the firm after previously serving as summer associates in 2017. These new additions to the firm come closely behind the seven new hires Swift Currie welcomed in September of this year. With these new additions, Swift Currie further augments its roster of litigators and brings the firm’s total to over 150, making it the largest litigation firm in Georgia.

Sara Alexandre joins Swift Currie’s litigation team. Before joining the firm, Ms. Alexandre worked as a healthcare law and professional liability litigation associate, as well as a business and healthcare law researcher and analyst. Ms. Alexandre counsels clients in defense litigation concerning catastrophic injury and wrongful death, automobile litigation, and premises liability. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association. Ms. Alexandre earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University and received both her law degree and her Master of Laws in Taxation degree from New York Law School.

Rebecca M. Beane joins the firm’s litigation team as a member of both the State Bar of Georgia and The Florida Bar. Beane has garnered seven years of experience in litigation at both the trial and appellate level in state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation, construction law and products liability. She earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University and her law degree from Ave Maria School of Law, graduating, cum laude, from both.

Avery G. Carter joins Swift Currie’s general litigation team and practices in the areas of commercial litigation, automobile litigation and premises liability. Before joining the firm full time, he was a summer associate for Swift Currie and a judicial intern for the Honorable Wilford Taylor of the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Virginia in Hampton, Virginia. Carter earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and his law degree from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law, where he served as an executive board member of The Florida Moot Court Team.

Clay L. Clifton joins the firm’s workers’ compensation team and practices primarily in workers’ compensation defense. Before joining the firm full time, he was a summer associate for Swift Currie. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was a member of the University of Richmond Law Review and a recipient of the E. Carlton Wilton Scholarship.

Nichole “Nicki” C. Novosel joins Swift Currie’s workers’ compensation practice group. Before joining the firm full time, she was a summer associate for Swift Currie. While earning her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, she served on the managing board of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. She was also a member of the Georgia Law’s Negotiation Competition Team, where she competed in regional and national negotiation competitions. Novosel earned her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University.

Tara P. Schlairet joins the firm’s workers’ compensation practice group and brings more than three years of experience in the industry representing insurance companies, self-insureds, employers and servicing agents in defense of workers’ compensation claims, as well as more than two years of experience in the defense of premises liability matters. After earning her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University, she received her law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.

Kristen M. Vigilant joins the firm’s coverage and commercial litigation team and practices in the areas of commercial litigation and insurance coverage. Before joining the firm full time, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable L. Scott Coogler of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and clerked for the Alabama governor’s legal department. She was also a summer associate for Swift Currie. Vigilant mediated dozens of cases as a student mediator in her law school’s Mediation Clinic. She earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and her law degree from The University of Alabama School of Law, where she was the editor in chief of the Law & Psychology Review.

Ivy R. White joins Swift Currie’s workers’ compensation practice group, where she represents employers, insurers, self-insureds and third-party administrators. White’s practice also includes defending insureds in automobile litigation cases. She has years of experience in civil litigation and workers’ compensation defense, including preparing cases for litigation before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, Georgia state and superior courts, Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. White earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University, her MBA degree from the Georgia State University J. Mack Robinson College of Business and law degree from Georgia State University College of Law.

Robert “Rob” K. Young joins Swift Currie’s workers’ compensation team, while also practicing employment law. Young possesses experience covering multiple phases of litigation in both state and federal proceedings. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and has represented clients as lead attorney in several cases, from the initial investigation to settlement negotiations. He earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his law degree from Emory University School of Law.
